Clara Merle Pascale (Peavy), loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, age 84, of Egg Harbor Township, was called home to be with the Lord on May 4, 2023.
Clara was born in Mints, North Carolina, to Ada Peavy-Tew in July of 1938. She spent most of her young life at Oxford Orphanage in her home state, but graduated from North Central High School in Spokane, Washington – class of 1956. She later moved to New Jersey where she worked as a telephone operator. Her boss and future mother-in-law would soon introduce her to the love of her life and husband of 66 years, Charles Pascale. Clara and Charles married in 1957 and raised three children.
Clara was full of life and cherished her relationships with her friends and family. She was known for her contagious laugh and welcoming demeanor making anyone she met feel like family. If you knew Clara, you probably are a recipient of one of her personalized cards. She kept meticulous records of birthdays and anniversaries and would religiously send greeting cards to her friends, family, and church community. Clara was a devout Christian and a member of the Linwood Community Church. Her faith in God was a testimony to many and deeply ingrained in all that she did.
Clara is preceded in death by her mother, Ada, her brothers James and Edsel, her sisters Rosetta, Maria, and Christine, and her youngest son, Keith. She leaves behind her husband, Charles; son, David (Carol); daughter, Pamela; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Daniel) and Christina; great-grandchildren, Lorenzo and Emilia; and a host of other nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
A public memorial will be held on Tuesday, May 9 at Linwood Community Church, 1838 Shore Road, Linwood. The viewing will take place from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, with a memorial service beginning at 11:00 am. Clara will be laid to rest at Zion Cemetery, 651 Zion Road, Egg Harbor Township. A luncheon, sponsored by the deaconesses of Linwood Community Church, will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Deacon Fund at Linwood Community Church helping families in need.
