Obituary for Cesar R Builes

Cesar Augusto Ruiz Builes also known as “Papi and Tio”, 79, of Egg Harbor Township, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 19, 2020. Papi was stoic in nature and never once complained. He maintained a quiet dignity through difficult times to the very end.

He is survived by his loving wife Hermilia “Maria” who he treasured for 40 years. He is also survived by the diamonds of his eyes his two children; Johnny “Pancho” Builes and Johanna “Kiki” Builes; his daughter-in-law, Jennifer “Jenny” Builes, his sister-in-law, Rosalba Builes, his brother-in-law’s, Damian Vasquez and Guillermo Garcia. He also leaves his numerous nieces and nephews from the sobrinas of Nueva York, Adiela, Aide, Mabel, Margarita, and Rodrigo, to the familia Vasquez, Vasco, Londono, and Zea.
He is predeceased by his beloved parents Luis “Papito” Builes and Margarita “Mamita” Ruiz, siblings Luis Maria, Emilia del Carmen, Gabriel, Oliva, Luz Mila, Miguel, Teresa, Celina, Dario, Sara, and Reynaldo.

He loved his time spent traveling with his loving wife Hermilia and his family. He loved sitting outside watching the cars go by and feeding the squirrels. He had a great sense of humor and loved offering “cook” everyone Chinese food or pizza when company came to visit. He came to the United States to attend the 1964 World’s Fair and then decided to make a life here in the United States. He brought along for the journey his two brothers, Gabriel with his family and Dario. In the 1970s he brought his wife, Hermilia, and sister-in-law, Laura, and her husband, Hernan, came to the United States. In 1980, Mami and Papi got married and remained in love for 40 years, where they built an incredible foundation with their two kids Johnny and Johanna. Papi had an incredible ability to fix EVERYTHING. There was nothing he could not fix or figure out a solution to make something work better.

What made Papi the proudest was watching his two children become who they are today. He loved taking them to gymnastics or baseball practice, to the mall for Halloween, and watching them open Christmas presents. He took his family to Disney World in 1992 for Christmas vacation, where he informed everyone it was not Happy New Year but rather Happy New Jersey!! He truly enjoyed showing his children how to drive and they will never forget how happy he was when they passed their driving test for the driver’s license. He was such a proud father watching us graduate high school, college, and nursing school and moving onto our own careers.

We will never forget how much fun he had on his son’s wedding day, performing the Arabic yodel and dancing in the air with his family.

The family would like to thank Nael and Ghada Zumot, Jolene Ganiel, and Diana Arango for helping to comfort us while Papi transitioned to the heavens. The heavens gained a great man and we have gained an angel who will continue to guide us. We love you Papi and thank you for the memories. We are so happy that we made you proud as we are so proud of you.
