Catherine Scott, (nee Marshall) 89, of Northfield, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 1st at Shore Memorial Hospital. Catherine, also known as Rena, was born on July 3, 1931, in County Lanark, Scotland to the late Catherine and Robert Marshall. She was the eldest of two children. She is predeceased by her brother, Alexander (Lex) Marshall of Scotland.
She started a lifelong adventure in 1952, when she came to America to marry her late husband, Robert Scott. Together, they raised two children and built their family business, Scotty’s Radiator in Pleasantville, which Rena continued to operate following Robert’s death in 1979.
An avid reader, she loved a good mystery and had read nearly every one in the Northfield Public Library. She loved being outdoors, tidying her garden or out for a nice long walk.
The close friendships she formed with other area women who had come to America from countries like England, Wales, Ireland and Australia would last throughout her life. Her Thursday nights with “The Girls” were a weekly highlight for nearly 50 years.
She is survived by her son Robert Marshall Scott (Jeanne, predeceased) of Absecon, and her loving daughter, Karen Eisele (John) of Egg Harbor Twp.; grandsons Ian Scott (Jeanine) and Brian Scott; granddaughters Lauren Walbert (Chris) and Cailin Eisele (Corey Larrea); and great-grandchildren Adelyn and Isla Walbert, and Tyler and Stephanie Scott.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021 from 10-11:30am with a memorial service at 11:30am at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road in Northfield. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Catherine's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
