Obituary for Burnett "Bernie" Watson

Watson, Burnett O’Neill – 94 years old of Pleasantville, NJ closed his eyes for the last time on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 after a brief illness. He was born on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1926 in Atlantic City and was the fourth child of Burnett and Marion Watson. Burnett graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1944, the place where his love of singing and running blossomed. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country during WWII. He returned from Hawaii and soon wed the love of his life Margaret E. Davis. Together they raised two opinionated and devoted daughters, Dena and Marian. Burnett retired from Atlantic City Electric after 30+ years. Not long after, he was elected to the Pleasantville City Council (1981) serving two consecutive, three-year terms. He was Chairman of the Housing Authority, served on numerous boards and committees including Rotary and Codi. Most importantly, Burnett was a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was and always will be a gentlemen, they don’t make them like him anymore! Burnett’s parents, siblings, and his daughter Dena Watson predeceased him. He is survived by: Margaret his wife of 66 years, daughter Marian Woodson (Bruce), grandchildren Ryan Woodson and Brea Dorsey (Nigel), great-grandchildren Tyler and Nicole, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Services will be held at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home (1650 New Road, Northfield NJ 08225) on Friday February 12, 2021 at 11:00 am sharp. Face Masks and Social Distancing is required. The Burial will follow
at Atlantic City Cemetery (500 Black Horse Pike, Pleasantville NJ 08232). Due to COVID, feel free to meet the family at the Cemetery at 12 noon for the burial.
