Obituary for Bernard Joseph Farrell Jr.

Bernard J. Farrell
1932-2020
Bernard J. Farrell, 88, passed peacefully on 29th December, 2020 from unexpected heart failure at his residence in New Jersey. Even though a failing heart took him away from this world, his loving heart left a beacon of light for all who knew him. His cheerful attitude and bright smile will be missed.
Loving and devoted father to Paul B. Farrell and Bernadette Farrell, caring grandfather to Hon. Michaelpaul J. Farrell, Bridgette Graham-DiLacqua, and Paul (PJ) Farrell, Jr. Loving Great-uncle to Lauren White.
Korean War Veteran (January 27, 1953 to December 23, 1954), Retired Philadelphia Fireman (September 15, 1958 to January 6, 1982), and retired Philadelphia school bus driver (September 1, 1989 to January 2, 2008). Long-time parishioner of Christ The King Parish (Phila.), and good friend to the children and families of Morrell Park. Also, a long-time parishioner of St. Christopher Parish (Phila.) and a good friend to the residents of the FOP Senior Center (Phila.). A long-time volunteer with the Sisters Of the Blessed Sacrament (St. Katherine Drexel) at St. Francis Inn Ministries. Bernard’s family would like all to know that God did indeed grant Bernard with the serenity to accept the things that he could not change, instilled in him the courage to change the things that he could, and endowed him with enough wisdom to know the difference.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks anyone to please make a charitable donation to (The Sisters Of the Blessed Sacrament (https://www.katharinedrexel.org/donate/) in Bernard J. Farrell’s name. A service date is yet to be determined; however, all friends and family are welcome to join Bernadette and Michaelpaul on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at 11:30 AM for a memorial luncheon to celebrate Bernard’s life at The Crab Trap in Somers Point, NJ [2 Broadway]).
