Obituary for Amy Jane Florence

Amy Jane Florence - 97, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on January 7th, 2021. Loved by all, Amy was known for her pleasant and easy-going personality. Born in Oaklyn, NJ, she was raised in Atlantic City, where, together with her siblings, she enjoyed the beach and the boardwalk in its heyday. At a young age, her dream of becoming a professional dancer came true when she was selected as a Roxyette in New York City. At the Roxy Theater she met the love of her life who became her forever dance partner. After completing her career in show business, she made a home in Pleasantville where she raised five children and owned and operated a dance studio. She also worked at Zaberers Restaurant and several Atlantic City Casinos.
Amy was predeceased by her husband George Sr.; her beloved daughter Amy Jane; and her siblings Florence Matteo, Robert Newkirk, and Raymond Newkirk. She is survived by her children George Florence Jr. (Kathy), Leslie Bakaric (Ernie), Madeline Arargil (Vahan), and Marilu Donatelli (Dan); her brother Charles (Bussy) Newkirk and her sister Joan Mangold; as well as many nieces and nephews. Her greatest joy in life was her eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Amy was a huge Eagles fan and an avid reader. She enjoyed the beach, Broadway shows, cruising, knitting, crossword puzzles, Facebook, and watching Jeopardy.
The Matriarch of our family, she will forever live on in our hearts and be greatly missed. A private Catholic service will take place with her immediate family members. Arrangements by and condolence at www.adams-perfect.com
