Raymond R. "Ray Ray" Castilean 80 of Atlantic City, New Jersey passed away peacefully on December 23, 2017. Raymond was born in Philadelphia on August 6, 1937, predeceased by his parents Sarafina and Nicholas and his loving wife Angelina Castilean. Raymond served our country in The United States Army. After discharge, Ray went on to study photography and communications at St. Joseph University. Ray and his late wife opened and operated a photography studio in South Philadelphia for many years specializing in weddings. After relocating to the South Jersey Shore, Ray was employed at the Trump Plaza as a surveillance officer. Ray was an avid reader, a movie enthusiast, and he possessed a passion for Lexicography, the study of words and compiling the results into dictionaries. Ray had a zest for life and enjoyed telling stories to his best of friends and family. He was a devoted man with a infectious sense of humor. If you were fortunate enough to be a part of Ray’s circle he made sure you knew you were loved. Ray was a member of a prayer group and also served as a Eucharistic minister at Saint Thomas church in Brigantine NJ. Ray was a lover of all animals especially dogs and cats. Ray is survived by his sister-in-law Sandi DiMatteo and his nephews Michael and Christopher DiMatteo and his longtime companion and friend Geri Shannon, her daughter and son, Dawn Marie Mecca and John Shannon and their children Natalia, PJ, Madison & Marlea, his pets Milo and Precious.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday December 29, 2017 at 11am at St. Vincent DePaul Church 5021 Harding Highway, Mays Landing. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery which is located right next door to the church. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Atlantic County Humane Society.
