Obituary for George Panagis Arsenis

George Panagis  Arsenis
Arsenis, George Panagis, 91, of Absecon, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018 at home. George was born in Keramies, Cephalonia, Greece and was raised in Pireus, Athens Greece. Mr. Arsenis served during World War II, first in the resistence with the British and then as a sailor for the Greek Navy. After the war he joined the US Merchant Marines when he came to the United States where he applied for citizenship. He lived and worked in Chester, PA. He went into business with his brother Marcel which they continued to be partners in business for sixty years in Chester, PA and Atlantic City, NJ. He resided in Atlantic City for many years then in Ventnor, and finally in Absecon.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Marcel, Andrew and Angelo Arsenis. George is survived by his wife, Angeliki Arsenis; son, Jerry Peter Arsenis (Nancie); sister, Semi Tsudis. George’s family was everything to him, especially his three grandchildren that he was very proud of: Julia, George and Jerry.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am, on Tuesday, March 27th, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 7004 Ridge Ave, in Egg Harbor Twp. A viewing will be held from 10 am to 11 am, at the church. Burial will take place at Laurel Memorial Park in Pomona. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
