Obituary for Jared James Cummings

Jared James Cummings, 28 of Egg Harbor Township, passed away suddenly on March 3, 2018 after dealing with a lifetime of health issues. From his birth in Atlantic City, he succeeded in fighting heart defects and one lung to pack a lifetime in those years. He then fought and won a terrible battle with pneumonia, then liver cancer. But sadly his heart just gave out. Jared had an incredible sense of humor. He often would use the wrong greeting for a holiday or special occasion - it would be very possible to be wished Happy Halloween on your birthday. Jared got to check off many things on his bucket list, driving new Jaguars around a race track, visiting Villalobos in New Orleans, and traveling cross country with trips to Vegas and Mexico. Some of his other milestones were getting his Bachelor’s degree at Wilmington University and getting married.

Jared worked as a service adviser at many South Jersey dealerships as he loved being able to help people. He also worked as security for nightclubs in Atlantic City especially Anthem. He started getting tattoos to honor his love for dogs having his dogs' paw prints tattooed on his arm. After his nasty scar from liver cancer surgery, in his true to form fashion, he had tattoos started of a grim reaper with a scythe that was being tapped on the shoulder by the angel of courage.

Jared is survived by his loving parents, Carole and Joseph Cummings, cherished siblings, Jason Cummings (Jaclyn) and Courtney Cummings Prokop (Todd), aunt and uncle, Denice and Ken McConnell, godfather Pasquale Santaniello, and Shannan Harris Cummings. He is also survived by nieces and nephew, Charlotte Cummings, Ava Prokop, and Jacob Cummings and cousins, Deanna and Alexa McConnell.

He was predeceased by his niece Catherine Cummings, his godmother Sandra Santaniello, maternal grandparents Josephine and Joseph Aloi, and paternal grandparents, Ruth and John Flynn. He is also survived by hundreds of other relatives and friends and his three rescue pit bulls, Meatball, Bella, and Hemi. Jared may have not lived a long life but he lived a life worth living. He will be missed.

A viewing will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Adams Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield, N.J. Another viewing will be held on Friday, March 9 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at St. Joseph’s Church, 606 Shore Road, Somers Point, N.J. followed by a 10:30 mass.
