To everyone that is reading this you see his name as "Alex". Growing up as a little kid his name was "Poppy". When he became a teen, his friends knew him as "Jr". I still called him Poppy and that is what my children knew him as.
Jr. was raised by my grandmother and his grandfather. His life was taken way to soon. it was take in a way that no one should ever lose their life. Very much so at the age of 16. He was your normal teenage, wanting to fit in, having a girlfriend that he thought the world of, and even held a job at ShopRite in the winter and in the summer, he worked at Wonderland Pier. He was even sending his father money to help him.
On, January 26th I received a call that took our family by storm. The couple that raised him from an infant. They didn't lose a grandson, they lost a son.
You may be wondering why I am tell you this. I'm telling you this because he had a family. He was raised by my grandparents. He spent weekends coming over and spent hours playing video games and would ride bikes with my littlest brother who is the same age as him. They even played video games together when he was home and talk to each other through the game.
The reason why I am writing this is so you know something about this kid, boy, even child. Because what people are going to hear and say is not going to have to do with WHO he was.
The heartbreak the family is going through is not only about the life that was taken but also for the parents of the boy that took this life. They are also suffering currently. Even though our hearts are hurt, and we are angry at the outcome I hope one day we can all come to terms with God.
